Amazingly beautiful alpine slide with dwarf willows

alpine slide with dwarf willows An alpine slide with dwarf willows always attracts attention. The compact and densely leaved spherical willow will add zest to the landscape design of both the garden and the rock garden. You can place a voluminous shrub both along the edges of a stone flower bed and at its base. Such a green globe will exquisitely highlight the strengths of the wonderful composition.

For coniferous crops, only sunny sides / areas of the front garden are chosen. In the shade, of course, it grows, but only rather slowly. Moreover, in such places, its greens take on a dull and pale shade.

Keeping pace with the experienced gardener

Willow planting takes literally 7-10 minutes, if proper preparations are made in advance. At this point, the rockery should have already been built. The seedling was purchased and the soil was plowed. In early spring, in sunny weather, a number of fascinating procedures are carried out:

  • dig a shallow hole almost to drainage (a little larger than the root system of a spherical willow);
  • if there is no drainage base, then it is made of sand and brick;
  • a little rotted compost or humus is poured to the bottom (knead the clods);
  • mix it with a little earth;
  • the seedling is removed from the container, having previously moistened it with water;
  • transferred into a hole and covered with soil, as well as expanded clay from a temporary container;
  • compacted near the basal neck, without deepening it below the previous position;
  • moisten the landing site on an alpine slide;
  • lay the mulch around the trunk: 6-8 cm layer of rotted sawdust.

Before planting, carefully consider the condition of the root system of the seedling. In a container, it can stand up to two to three weeks. As soon as the roots grow to the drainage layer, it can be transplanted to the summer cottage.

In the spring, it is not recommended to apply mineral fertilizers. Most often this applies to plants whose rhizomes are open. They need time to adapt to new conditions and take root reliably. When this moment comes, then you can safely apply mineral complexes.

In particular, planting Potentilla on rock gardens includes sanitary pruning. By removing dry / diseased branches, the grower stimulates growth and full development of the culture.

Other unique perennial plants are also introduced into the alpine slide. Popular among them juniperas well as luxurious spirea. Saplings are placed in the lower part of the front garden so that the spreading branches of the shrubs create a pompous fence. They are planted according to the same principle as the spherical willow. Further, the grower needs to closely monitor the development of these varieties.
