Delicate but persistent beauty Astilba Bressingham Beauty
The full name of the plant sounds like Astilba Arends Bressingham Beauty. This is a hybrid perennial shrub, quite tall - it can grow up to 1 m in height. The upper part of the bush is grassy and dies off for the winter, and new shoots appear in the spring.
It has a very beautiful decorative appearance, due to which it is widely used not only for decorating flower beds and flower beds, but also for cutting. Saturated green leaves with a carved edge cast a slight sheen, and during flowering, the bush releases a long, slightly drooping, panicle-shaped peduncle, strewn with small lush flowers of a delicate pink color with a pleasant aroma. The length of the peduncle itself can be up to 80 cm, and the inflorescences - up to 25 cm. Flowering lasts from July to August.
Despite its delicate appearance, the variety is very resistant not only to low temperatures, but also to diseases and pests. Grow astilba a pleasure, because she practically does not require attention to herself. The most important thing is to choose the right place for the flower, where it would be comfortable.
Where to plant?
Bressingham Beauty grows best in shaded areas out of direct sunlight, especially at noon when the sun is in full swing.
It is not recommended to plant the plant directly under the trees - there it blooms weakly, and the leaves and flowers lose their color.
Astilba roots are very powerful, woody, grow vertically and go deep into the soil, so it needs loose soil, ideally if it is loam with low acidity. The introduction of organic matter will only benefit the shrub - it develops more actively on rich soil.
Features of care and wintering
Astilba loves moisture very much, so it should be watered regularly. In hot dry summer without watering, the bush becomes weak and unattractive, moreover, it quickly sheds inflorescences.
During the growing season, the plant can be fertilized complex mineral preparations... Astilbe reproduces by dividing the bush. Rhizomes are planted:
- in the spring;
- in the fall.
Although the variety has good winter hardiness, it is recommended to cover the bushes for the winter in regions with cold winters. This is especially important when a winter with little snow and severe frosts is expected. In warm regions, it is enough to spread a layer of mulch of 10 cm around the bushes.
