Struggle to harvest strawberries in spring
Strawberries are the very first berry of the season, which both children and adults love to feast on. To obtain high yields, it must be properly looked after. In autumn, the bushes are spud with earth, covered with dry grass and fallen leaves. Strawberries hibernate under such a "blanket" perfectly.
Stages of strawberry care
In the spring, you need to remove last year's dry leaves with a fan rake, gently "combing" the beds. Rake out the bushes so that the core is not covered, at the same time loosening the earth around them. You can also trim off frozen leaves with garden shears.
Then you need to water the strawberries and sprinkle well-rotted compost under each bush, otherwise you will not have to count on a good second harvest of remontant strawberries. It is very demanding on nutrition and responds well to organic fertilizing, which must be applied to the soil every spring.
It is better to store well-rotted manure in bags so that crumbling does not start.
The next step is very important. It is necessary to water the strawberries with a hot potassium permanganate solution. The solution should be deep pink. Water temperature - 60-65ABOUTC. Pour about a glass of solution into the center of the bush. Thus, you will get rid of pests and diseases that hibernated in the soil.
If you find obvious signs of a disease, for example, spots on the leaves, then it is better to treat the strawberries with chemicals. Do not treat it with fungicides during flowering and berry formation.
Next, you need to sprinkle all the bushes ashafter moistening them with water from a watering can, for better adhesion of ash to the leaves. This is necessary both for combating diseases and for feeding with minerals.
Between young strawberry bushes, you can plant onions on greens so that the ground is not empty.
After a week, you need to sprinkle the entire strawberry plantation with ash again and feed it with a solution of mullein or horse manure (half a liter for each bush). We do not feed more strawberries until the harvest. We only loosen the soil.
For an earlier harvest, you can plant strawberries in the greenhouse in the fall. The next year in the spring, after harvesting, plant it again in the garden. And in the fall - back to the greenhouse. You can also cover the strawberry bed with lutrasil with arches, and then you will enjoy the delicious berries 1-2 weeks earlier.
Strawberries require a lot of attention, but the tasty, aromatic berries are well worth the effort.
