This appetizing spicy Jewish snack has been popular since Soviet times. Then the choice of products was small, and nothing special was required to prepare this dish - only processed cheese, garlic and mayonnaise, so the appetizer appeared at festive feasts very often. With the current abundance of products, it still has not lost its popularity, but on the contrary acquired many variations due to the addition of other components and interesting ways of serving.
Classic version
The classic Jewish snack recipe includes only two ingredients - cheese and garlic. It is prepared very simply, it does not need to be insisted or kept in the refrigerator, it can be immediately served on the festive table.
Ingredients:
- soft processed cheese - 2 packs (100 g each);
- garlic - 2-3 cloves;
- mayonnaise - 2-3 tbsp. l.
Preparation:
- Rub the processed cheese on a fine grater. To make it easier to do this, put the curds in the freezer for 20-25 minutes, they will become not so soft and rub well without smearing on the grater.
- Pass the garlic cloves through a press.
- Combine cheese with garlic, add mayonnaise and mix thoroughly.
You do not need to freeze the curds or grate them, but simply put them in a bowl, add mayonnaise with garlic and knead them well with a fork.

- You can brighten up a snack dish by adding fresh carrots, which must be grated on a fine grater. It is taken from the calculation: 1 medium carrot for 2 processed cheese.

- This appetizer goes very well with fresh herbs. You can take whatever you like (parsley, cilantro), but dill is ideal. The greens should be finely chopped and added to the cheese mass.

Adjust the number of garlic cloves to your liking, but remember that the appetizer should still be spicy.
