Do-it-yourself beds made of plastic panels - easy to manufacture, reliable to use
Do-it-yourself beds made of plastic panels are a budget, but very practical and convenient option. It is much easier to care for the crops growing on them, especially if you make high sides. And the soil in such beds warms up faster and keeps warm longer. And after watering, moisture remains inside, and water does not spill over to the sides. What to say about weeds. It is more convenient to walk along a couple of beds than to stand in the garden for half a day. Why plastic panels and not boards or other material? Of course, you can use whatever is on the farm. But if possible, stop at such panels.
Benefits of plastic beds
But this is so, little things and a little humor. But seriously, plastic panels have other advantages:
- they do not decompose, do not rot or rust;
- at the same time, they do not need additional processing (but you will have to impregnate the tree);
- lightweight and easy to install (you can give any shape by simply bending);
- and thanks to special slats along the edges, you can assemble the garden like jigsaw puzzles, adding the desired the height.
No harmful substances are released from plastic into the soil.
Do-it-yourself beds from plastic panels
Even a teenager can assemble such a bed, under your strict guidance, of course. The main thing is to take measurements and evenly draw the perimeter or pull the string. Usually make a width of about 80 cm. This is enough to plant two rows of peppers or other plants. The length depends only on the desire (and the amount of material).
Further work is also easy:
- According to the marking, dig a trench at least 4 cm deep. More is possible and even better - the panels will become stronger.
- Measure the desired length of the panels by drawing a line with a pencil. Swipe it with a clerical knife. Now press a little, as if forcefully separating the pieces. If the cut is not completely cut, make another cut with a knife.
- Install the blanks in the trench and dig in them with earth, ramming them.
The joints (joints at the corners) are additionally fastened with ordinary corners or bolts. And if your bed is high, so that it does not disperse under the weight of the soil, install several transverse slats at regular intervals (about 1.5).
