How to cook stews as a side dish and a side dish
Stewed cucumbers are not a very common dish, but they have a lot of connoisseurs. Vegetables can be prepared in this way for various purposes: a side dish for meat, a base for a meal, and a snack for alcohol. To appreciate their taste, you should use the recipe for each of them.
How to cook stewed cucumbers
The cooking process consists in performing a number of actions:
- Wash 5-6 fruits thoroughly, peel and cut into small cubes. For stewing, choose large, overripe cucumbers, which can no longer be used for other recipes.
- Place the chopped vegetables in a deep frying pan and add a small amount of vegetable oil. It is considered necessary, since cucumbers actively release juice when stewing.
- Cut the onion into cubes and place on top of the vegetables.
- One Bulgarian sweet chop pepper in the same way and add to the pan.
- Grate small carrots on a coarse grater and add to the rest of the ingredients.
- Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Simmer over low heat for 25-30 minutes, stirring the ingredients from time to time.
- Dill or parsley greens, 2 cloves of garlic should be put on a dish 10 minutes before it is ready, after finely chopping.
You don't need to use sweet bell peppers. However, in this case, it is recommended to increase the amount of onions.
Stews can be used as a side dish or as a main dish.
How to stew salted vegetables
The recipe for stewed pickles is as follows:
- Cut the onion into half rings, then pour into a deep frying pan, add a little vegetable oil and fry until golden brown.
- Cut 5-6 pickled cucumbers into slices and add to the onion, frying until softened.
- Pour in half a tablespoon of fried flour, pour in a glass of meat broth and half a tablespoon of sour cream.
- Simmer for 30-40 minutes over low heat until fully cooked.
Stewed salted cucumbers It is usually used as a side dish for roasted meat, depending on the type of which the recipe can be changed. For example, if lamb is too fatty, you should exclude sour cream from the ingredients.

You can stew a cucumber in German. For this you need:
- Vegetables first have to be prepared. Wash thoroughly and peel a kilogram of fresh cucumbers from the skin. After that, you need to cut the fruits in length into two halves and remove all the seeds. Divide into medium sized pieces.
- Finely chop the onion and fry in a pan in vegetable oil.
- Cut 50 g of pork sternum into slices and add to the onion.
- Pour the prepared cucumbers into the pan with the other ingredients and fry for 20 minutes, until they turn pale green.
- Pour a teaspoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of flour into the resulting mass, mixing thoroughly.
- Pour 250 ml of tea broth into a frying pan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Add salt, pepper and bite to taste.
- Finely chop the dill branch and add on top.
The German recipe allows you to make stews with tomatoes. To do this, add 4-5 red cherry fruits along with the vegetables, after cutting them into halves.
Before use, you need to let the dish brew for 10-20 minutes, after which you can serve it to the table.
Stewed cucumbers as a separate dish
So that the dish can be used as a basis for lunch or dinner, you should use one more cooking option:
- Boil 500 g of rice until cooked and let cool.
- Peel the onion and chop finely.
- Cut 1.5 kilograms of cucumbers into 2-3 pieces across and remove the middle with a knife or spoon.
- Mix 200 g of minced meat with chopped onions and boiled rice. Add pepper and salt.
- Stuff cucumbers with the resulting mixture by analogy with stuffed cabbage rolls.
- Place the pieces of the fruit in a saucepan and cover with water and salt.
- Cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes until cooked through.
Stewed cucumbers are recommended to be served with sour cream.
The dish can be prepared in other ways. For example, peel cucumbers and chop finely, and form meatballs from minced meat. Then mix together with other ingredients in a pan and simmer until tender.
How else can you make stewed cucumbers
Stewed cucumbers with vegetables is a fairly common recipe for the dish. However, it can also be prepared in a variety of other ways. Quite an exotic option - in a sauce of beer and cream. Perfect as a snack for alcoholic beverages.
The cooking process is as follows:
- Cut 600 g of cucumbers into large cubes and fry in vegetable oil, pre-salt.
- Mix a glass of beer with 4 tablespoons of cream, finely chopped dill, salt and pepper.
- Pour the prepared sauce over the cucumbers and simmer for 15 minutes.
- You can add herbs and chopped pistachios to garnish and enhance the taste.
