How to make a rabbit drinker - two simple and economical options
Pet stores are full of all kinds of tools for breeding rabbits and other animals. But it's one thing if it's a pair of decorative individuals - they can buy everything. If you have a large farm, a few tips for making a rabbit drinker will probably come in handy. This will help avoid additional costs, because you can't buy drinking bowls for a hundred rabbits. And the material for homemade homemade products will be what everyone usually has in excess - bottles and jars. Having chosen a suitable option for yourself, it remains only to buy a couple of elements if necessary. And your rabbits will always have clean water and dry cages.
How to make a rabbit drinker
Vacuum drinker from bottle and bowl
Prepare a plastic bottle with a volume of 1-1.5 liters and a flat small bowl, you can also use a plastic one. To attach to the cage, you need 2 clamps (the diameter is equal to the diameter of the bottle) or a wooden block. In the latter case, first attach the bottle to the bar, and then attach it to the cage wall.
Manufacturing process step by step:
- Cut off the neck of the bottle just below the cap.
- On the bottom, make a couple of holes through which air will enter and "push" water.
- Place the bottle upright in a bowl.
- Secure with clamps and attach to the cage.
In order for water to enter the bowl, the bottle should not stand in it, but be suspended at a distance of about 2 cm. As soon as the water level in the drinker drops below these values, water will flow automatically.
Plastic bottle nipple drinker
To make a drinker, you will need a bottle, glue, a plastic tube in the form of a ballpoint pen body. And a small screw instead of a hinge that goes into it.
Step by step production:
- Make a small hole in the bottle cap to fit the pen body.
- Insert the tube and fix it with glue. Everything must be airtight so that water does not come through.
- Insert a screw into the end of the tube instead of a ball-point.
- At the bottom of the bottle, which is now protruding from the top, make a hole to fill in the water.
- Secure the drinker to the cage.
When the rabbit clicks on the screw in the tube, the pressure will change and water will flow. At the end of the "watering hole" the screw will be in place and again block the fluid supply.
Special nipple nozzles can be purchased and fitted to the bottle.
