How to make a birdhouse from a bottle - we prepare cozy and colorful houses for birds
Winter has already come, and even the first snow pleased with its whiteness, and starlings and other migratory birds flew away to warm lands long ago. In the spring they will return again and look for their houses, so why not take care of this in advance? Today we will talk about how to make a birdhouse from a bottle - the simplest model that even a schoolboy can handle. Of course, wooden houses are much stronger and more comfortable, but plastic also retains heat well and will warm future chicks. It is easier to work with such material than with wood, and the products are very beautiful. They can be placed in the garden without waiting for spring, so that the remaining wintering birds can warm themselves in severe frosts.
How to make a birdhouse from a bottle
It remains to make a roof for the house. To do this, cut off the two remaining bottles just below the cap and above the label. From the resulting blanks, make "tiles" by cutting them lengthwise into strips. Wrap a shingle roof around the neck of the bottle, which has become directly a house. First one, then a second on top of it, so that there are no gaps. Glue.
The birdhouse can be painted as you like, in the brightest and most different colors. However, choose paints that don't have a strong odor. Acrylic paints are good for crafts.
Spacious birdhouse from a bottle
A very cozy and large house is obtained from a five-liter container. Larger birds will also be able to wait out the cold in it, because they also need protection from wind and frost.
It is best to use containers for still water. They do not contain foreign odors, and there will be no problems with washing.
Making a spacious birdhouse is even easier:
- Place a strip of double-sided tape along one side of the bottle.
- Take the twine, glue its tip onto the tape and start wrapping the container in a circle. Lay tightly so that there are no gaps, and additionally coat with glue from a gun. It is not necessary to completely glue it over, it is enough to reach the place where the container begins to narrow.
- Cut a square or rectangular hole around the middle of the bottle decorated with twine.
- From the old sweater, cut off the part of the sleeve, the one with the elastic. Put on a makeshift hat on top of the blank. Pull the thread so that only the handle is visible, the one on the lid. It will serve as a mount.
- Decorate the roof (the top in the sleeve cap) by gluing grass on it.
On the side walls of the entrance to the birdhouse, you can make decor by pasting them with tape. Attach pieces of old braid on top of it or tie it from twine.
