Vine requirements for room maintenance
For the leaves to remain colorful and the Fatshedera to flourish, it needs good lighting. At the same time, it should be scattered, since the plant gets burns from direct rays.
Green-leaved Fatsheder varieties can grow in light partial shade. But variegated species definitely need more light, otherwise they will lose their pattern.
The heat-loving liana feels good at 22-24 ° C of heat, but if it is hotter, it can begin to fade. At the same time, the air humidity should be slightly increased, but not much. In winter, growth processes practically stop and the bush needs to rest. He prefers to do this in light coolness, about 15 ° C, but not lower than 10 ° C warm. In addition to variegated varieties, they need warmth all year round.
How to care for a Fatshedera at home
In caring for a room vine, the most important thing is to observe moderation in everything:
- water no more than 2 times a week - in summer, and once every 10 days - in winter;
- feed only during the period of active growth twice a month with mineral complexes for ornamental plants;
- spray the bush periodically, but if it is hot in the room, then do it more often;
- replant young bushes every spring.
Despite the rapid growth, Fatshedera has one feature: she gives all her strength to build up the central shoot. In this case, the lateral branches grow weakly, and even the foliage in the lower part of the central trunk crumbles over time. Therefore, in order for the bush to grow lush, the liana needs regular pruning and pinching of the tops. The first pruning of young bushes can be done when their height reaches 30 cm. And then form a vine, focusing on its development. There is another option: to put a support, grow long branches and run along the support.
