How to accelerate the maturation of compost - we make our organic matter quickly and correctly
Organic fertilizers help enrich the soil, besides, they are natural and can be obtained at home. One of them is compost, an excellent tool for feeding the garden and vegetable garden. Knowing how to accelerate the maturation of the compost, you can get a "fresh portion" of fertilizing every year. If small and soft waste degrades quickly, brown components take longer. On average, it takes 12 months to mature. The pile started this year will only turn into fertilizer by next season.
However, it is quite possible to significantly reduce the wait. And some secrets of laying a compost heap will help with this. And the use of special preparations will allow you to have organics ready for use in just a couple of months.
How to speed up the maturation of compost
The optimum pile width and height is 1 m. A deeper and wider pile will mature longer.
The duration of the process is also influenced by the size of the components. Chop up large branches, long tops, and then they will rot faster. Also remember to stir the contents of the compost regularly to get the air inside. Avoid drying out and watering the waste, because when dry, decomposition is delayed. But in the rainy season, it is better to cover the pile, otherwise they will wash out the nutrients. And the risk of waterlogging and the development of pathogenic fungi is also high.
Components containing nitrogen (green vegetation, vegetables, manure) decompose faster.
Folk remedies will help to speed up ripening. Spill a bunch of yeast solution or herbal infusion... It would be ideal to add a little slurry to the latter.
Special preparations for accelerating the maturation of compost
If, at the stage of laying a heap, it is spilled with special preparations, the waiting time can be minimized. They contain live microorganisms that release active substances. In turn, microbes trigger accelerated decomposition of components.
So, for the manufacture of compost in a short time, you can use the following preparations:
- Tamir (heap ripening time is 3 - 4 weeks);
- Baikal EM1 (2-3 months);
- Economy Harvest (from 2 to 4 months);
- Revival (1 - 2 months);
- Gumi - Omi Compostin (from 1 to 2 months);
- Compostello (6 - 8 weeks).
They forgot to say that all kinds of accelerators work at positive temperatures. Which ones?
To use accelerators, it is necessary that the soil temperature is not lower than +10 degrees. Otherwise, the bacteria simply die and the agent will not give the desired effect.
