There is nothing complicated about how to grow a coffee tree at home. The most important condition, a comfortable temperature, is not difficult to ensure, because every house and apartment has heating in winter. And in summer, we already have enough warmth for a pretty tree to actively develop and grow to the delight of its owners.
How to grow a coffee tree at home
What microclimate does a coffee tree need?
In order for the leaves to have a rich color, the bush is actively growing new branches and tied fruits, it needs warmth and light. Find the brightest spot in your home for your room coffee. However, keep in mind that on the south window it will need to be protected from direct sunlight. They will ruin the foliage and leave unsightly burns on it.
Choose a permanent place for the plant. It is often impossible to rearrange the pot - the tree can shed leaves and even buds.
Make sure that the room where the coffee is placed is warm. In winter, the bush can withstand a slight drop in temperature, but not lower than plus 15 ° C. Moderately humid air is also important for him. If it's too hot in summer or during a heating season, spray the plant periodically. But do not get carried away, because high humidity can cause it to hurt.
The second most important condition for growing indoor coffee is proper soil. The tree prefers acidified soil, so when planting / replanting add acidic peat.
Features of caring for indoor coffee bush
If the coffee is in the "right" place, receives enough light and warmth, further care for it will not be difficult:
- water regularly after the topsoil dries out;
- spray;
- fertilize;
- in the spring, carry out sanitary pruning by removing dried branches;
- do not forget about the formation of a bush in order to restrain growth in height and get a beautiful curvy shape;
- Transplant young bushes every year, and adults every 3 years.
The coffee tree is propagated by seeds and cuttings. When grown from seeds, it can give the first test ovary already at 4 years of age.
