I really liked its large bells, and even my beloved, blue, color. The husband is just finishing making the arch, so a new resident will appear under it in the fall. A little worried about the question of how he hibernates. Usually it is not very cold here, but last winter was a bit frosty.

The many-faced princes amaze with their abundant flowering and long vines, densely braiding the supports. One of the most persistent and beautiful varieties is the prince Cecile. Its large inflorescences open in the middle of spring and delight with a heavenly color. A close relative of clematis, prince is an earlier plant. At that time, when the first one just wakes up after hibernation, the second is already covered with buds.

Varietal features

A shrub vine is simply created to frame arches. Cecile looks no less impressive on trees or walls of a building, quickly braiding them with her shoots. Their length can reach 4 m, and the prince firmly clings to the support with petioles, twining twigs around it. The leaves are pinnate, dissected into 2 or 3 lobes. The edges of the leaf plate are serrated, and it is colored light green.

The delicate green foliage is harmoniously complemented by sky-colored bells. Blue, with a barely noticeable purple tint, like thunderclouds, they are rather large, while semi-double. Cecile blooms early, already in the month of April, and is very abundant. Slightly drooping inflorescences gracefully hang on long vines. And already at the beginning of summer, fluffy silvery seedlings appear in their place.

Prince Cecile - cultivation techniques

Among the advantages of the variety, it is worth highlighting:

• high frost resistance;
• shade tolerance.

Unlike light-loving clematis, Prince Cecile grows better in partial shade. Moreover, when planted in a sunny area, it loses its decorative effect, and the flowers become smaller, especially if the bush is rarely watered. A shaded liana does not need frequent moistening, while it will be more lush.

There is no need to cover the vine for the winter. The prince winters well even on a support.

The variety is not picky about the soil and will take root everywhere, except in swampy areas. A more lush bush and abundant flowering will be in a vine growing on loam.

Care consists of watering once a week and feeding twice a month. If you do not install a support, the prince turns into a ground cover plant, forming a dense flowering carpet. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that the princes represent plants of the first pruning group. Since they form buds on last year's shoots, the bush cannot be pruned. The most you need to do is remove dry and broken branches.
