When can we transplant conifers - we determine the optimal timing
Coniferous crops give the site a special charm, turning it into a corner of wildlife. However, sometimes it often happens that they have to change the originally chosen place. Despite the reason for this phenomenon, it is important not only to transplant correctly, but also to know when to transplant conifers. Although they are evergreen, they also hibernate for the winter. Growth processes slow down and spruce trees, cypress trees, thujas and other representatives of forest beauties and beauties retire. It is then that the moment comes for the relocation of fragrant green pets. Their weak point is the root system, which does not tolerate interference. If you disturb a tree or bush during a period of active growth, it can become very sick.
Why transplant conifers
Also, the reason for resettlement may be:
- overgrown cultures that began to interfere with each other;
- temporary "shelter" for young seedlings;
- redevelopment of the site.
When can you transplant ephedra
If it becomes necessary to transplant fragrant green pets, the optimal timing for the procedure is:
- Spring. Transplanting should be started as soon as the soil thaws. At the same time, it is important to have time to do this before the young needles appear. The undoubted advantage of the spring transplant is that the trees will have time to get stronger over the summer. They will enter the winter with new roots, which will help them survive it safely.
- Autumn. In this case, there are two periods: early September, before the dormant period, and October - December, after the first frost.
Conifers transplanted in the fall need shelter, which, moreover, is removed a little later in the spring.
Some gardeners transplant their ephedra in the summer, but this risk is not always justified. Summer transplanting can only be applied to young seedlings in containers (with a closed root system). But even in this case, the chances of successful rooting are lower than in autumn and spring. There is also a winter transplant, but it only applies to old plants that are transplanted with a frozen earthy clod.
