How long can Hercules onions be stored, and what is their yield? I bought seeds, the store said that the bulbs would be large. I want to sow next year to breed. There is no greater grief for gardeners when slender onion beds in one day turn out to be crowned with arrows. This is even more offensive than digging out tiny onions instead of the expected fist-sized fruits. But the Hercules bow will never let you down. This hybrid is not only tastier and sweeter - it produces large bulbs and almost no arrows. At the same time, a powerful root system provides plants with moisture even in dry summers.

Onion Hercules - variety description

In terms of ripening, this Dutch variety belongs to the early ones. Or mid-season, depending on the growing region. It takes approximately 100 days from planting to harvest. The bushes themselves grow up to 35 cm in height and form few feathers. All nutrients go to the bulb, so it grows large. The smallest fruits weigh at least 120 g. Subject to the same cultivation technique, you can get slightly oval bulbs weighing 250 g. Moreover, they are most often single, less often there are two-bud. Juicy white flesh is hidden under the beautiful golden scales. It is sweeter than other varieties, with almost no bitterness. But it retains its characteristic piquant spicy note.

From 1 sq. m. you can take up to 6 kg of onions. Provided proper preparation (high-quality drying), it is good persists within 10 months, almost until the new harvest.

The Dutch hybrid will also delight you with high drought resistance, because it has powerful roots. It has high immunity, rarely gets sick and is almost not affected by pests.
