"Live" flower on your window - oxalis, home care for a butterfly plant

What kind of lighting does oxalis need, home care, can you see a photo of a flowering plant? I bought a young bush, just a crumb, just a couple of leaves. I haven't had such a flower yet, I don't even know if it will bloom or only grow leaves. While I put it on the north window, only it remained free. Will there be enough light for the bush?

Its original leaves are similar to butterflies, and alive, because they have the ability to close. This is an amazing oxalis, home care (the photo will be in the article) for which, in general, is not burdensome. It is enough just to give the flower what it loves, and in gratitude the “butterflies” will begin to multiply rapidly. And if you give the plant rest every season, then it will still delight you with gentle flowering.

Flower features

Oxalis grows in the form of a compact bush about 15 cm high and has many varieties. Among them there are both annual and perennial plants that grow throughout Asia and Europe. Oxalis has taken root in our gardens, and some of its species feel great as indoor plants.

A characteristic feature of oxalis is its unusual leaf structure. They grow on long thin petioles, and the leaf blade is dissected into 3-4 segments in the form of triangles or hearts. However, they fold along the central vein, but not always. The leaves close in the evening and before the rain, however, like the flowers themselves. They are quite small, rise on tall peduncles and can be painted white, yellow or pink. As for the color of the foliage itself, varieties with lilac or burgundy leaves are most often grown at home, but there are green-leaved oxalis.

The popular name for the flower is oxalis, which it received for its high content of oxalic acid. If you try to chew a leaf, it tastes like sorrel.

In order for oxalis to retain its rich color of leaves, it needs good lighting. But direct rays are dangerous for the bush, because they leave burns. Does not like the plant and strong heat - it is comfortable at a maximum of 25 ° C heat. This regime must be maintained throughout the growing season, especially during flowering, from spring to autumn. Upon its completion, the bush must be sent to rest in a cool room with a temperature not exceeding 15 ° C heat.

Oxalis care is simple:

1. During the period of active growth and flowering, it must be watered frequently, while in winter, watering should be rare.
2. If the room is too hot, you can spray it periodically.
3. From spring to late summer - fertilize twice a month using mineral complex... In this case, the dose of the working solution must be prepared 2 times weaker than it is written in the instructions.
4. After the end of flowering, the pot of sour acid should be transferred for 1.5 months to a cool place. Watering at this time should be minimized, and it is not possible to spray at all.
5. The rested flower can again be moved to warmth and wait for flowering.

Oxalis are transplanted every year in the spring, but old bushes can be reloaded once every 2 years. At the same time, the reproduction of oxalis is carried out, dividing the bush into divisions or individual bulbs.
