Park roses - photos with the names of the best varieties
Their spreading bushes, abundantly strewn with stuffed roses, adorned gardens even in ancient Greece. But time only diversified the varietal assortment of these plants and made them even more popular. Park roses, photos with the names of which we will look at today, are one of the most popular types of culture and the oldest. They are called old garden roses and rightly so. Previously, flowering thorny shrubs grew in the palace gardens. A little later, they began to plant city parks. And today, park roses can increasingly be found in suburban areas. What is the reason for their popularity?
Features and types of park roses
However, despite the variety, all park roses have common characteristics:
- they grow as a large bush, require a lot of space and, over time, need anti-aging pruning;
- have good disease resistance;
- most varieties, especially old ones, have high frost resistance;
- bloom earlier than other roses, already from May.
A garden park rose is easy to recognize both in spring and autumn. In spring, it is covered with many flowers, always and in all varieties, to one degree or another, terry. And closer to autumn, in their place fruits resembling a rosehip ripen. Moreover, most roses are edible.
