Materials for making a homemade flat cutter
In order to make a homemade tool that works on the principle of a swift flat cutter, you need a metal profile with a length of at least 50 cm.The maximum length of the profile should be 75 cm.
In order to flat cutter it was possible to remove weeds, and not only to loosen the soil, it is necessary to straighten the side ribs at a distance of 20-22 cm from the beginning of the metal profile. For manufacturing, you need a hammer and a solid work surface. With a few movements it is necessary to flatten the edges of the profile so as to lengthen the upper plane of the profile. You need to flatten a quarter of the length. Thus, the border of a homemade tool is made. Next, an arc is formed from a metal profile using a hammer. Then the narrow end of the loop must be wrapped with electrical tape to form a handle. The blade of a homemade flat cutter perfectly loosens sandy soil.
If you attach a wooden or metal handle to the flat cutter, you will not need to bend over to work the soil.
Thanks to the narrow blade, the garden tool does not damage the roots of cultivated plants and allows loosening in the immediate vicinity of the roots of shrubs and ornamental flowers. In order for a self-made flat cutter to be able to deeply loosen the soil, the metal profile must be made of high-quality steel and have a top plane width of at least 3 cm.
