Juniper varieties for landscaping
Juniper is widely used in landscaping. It is a plant from the cypress family. There are about 80 species of juniper in the world. They are distributed all over the world. For different peoples, these plants have their own names. Juniper varieties are classified using three classifications:
- by the color and texture of the needles;
- height;
- subspecies.

Juniper scaly Blue Carpet
The Blue Carpet juniper is a scaly juniper, but according to some classifications, it is classified as horizontal or Chinese.
Blue Carpet translated from English Blue Carpet. The name speaks for itself: the plant becomes sky-blue in color during the period of active growth.
The maximum height of an adult shrub is about 50 cm. The juniper is a creeping evergreen. In diameter, it can reach 2.5 m or more, its growth is practically unlimited.
When you include the Blue Carpet in your landscape composition, you will receive a large blue carpet that favorably emphasizes the green plants of the second tier. The variety is distinguished by a fairly large growth dynamics. The branches give an increase of up to 40 cm per season.The bush in diameter increases to 80 cm.
Juniper medium Old Gold
The Old Gold juniper is a medium-sized juniper. The name translates as Old Gold. It is the compact form of Pfitzeriana Aurea.
The bush is about 0.5 m high, its diameter can reach 1.5 m. The juniper acquires the most decorative color from late May to mid-June, when a young growth of bright yellow color is formed.
Juniper Cossack Mas
Juniper Cossack Mas appeared in Russia as one of the very first varieties of this culture. It is used for landscaping household plots, because the shrub is unpretentious to growing conditions, but at the same time is very decorative.
For winter, the color of the juniper becomes bronze. In the spring, when nature wakes up, the bush acquires a bluish-green color.
Be careful! Cossack juniper cones are poisonous.
The maximum size of this plant is 1 m in height and 3–3.5 m in diameter. In nature, the shrub can reach 20 m in width due to the fact that its lower branches, lying on the ground, easily root.
Juniper horizontal Blue Chip
Juniper horizontal Blue Chip is unpretentious in care, prefers sunny places. The height of the shrub is 30 cm, the diameter is up to 3 m, if it is not cut and the juniper is allowed to grow freely. In the cold season, the plant has a purple color, which gives additional charm to the winter garden.
