Tomato Blagovest - characteristics and description of the variety of one of the best yielding hybrids
It will not please with the large size of the fruits, but a lot of round small tomatoes on the bush ripen. Thanks to their excellent taste and fleshy pulp, they can not only be eaten, but also canned. This is the Blagovest tomato, the characteristic and description of the variety of which has long been known to all gardeners who have greenhouses. It was for them that this fruitful hybrid was created in the first place. However, the unpretentious nature of the plant allows you to grow it and get no less good yields on garden beds in the southern and even central regions.
Tomato Blagovest - characteristics and description of the variety
From the moment of germination to harvest, a little more than 100 days pass. When grown in greenhouses, the first tomatoes ripen at the beginning of summer. In the open field, fruiting begins a month later, but lasts until September.
The variety is resistant to the main diseases of tomatoes - viral mosaic, late blight, cladosporiosis.
Variety yield
Blagovest gives the highest yields at a stable temperature regime, that is, in greenhouses - more than 5 kg per plant. In the open field, the indicators fall by an average of 20%. The fruits themselves are small, weighing no more than 120 g, but almost the same size. They have the correct round shape and rich red color, but when fully ripe, the tomatoes become a little flattened.
Tomatoes have a dense and fleshy flesh, so they "behave" well when canned as a whole or for juice. Also, the fruits are very tasty and fresh, in salads.
So that the already not very large fruits are not crushed, the hybrid needs to be formed. It is necessary to leave as much ovary on the bush as it can "feed". For this, the bush is formed into one stem, removing all the side stepsons. Or, after the first ovary, one stepson is left to form 2 stems, and the rest are plucked out.
Advantages and disadvantages
Of the advantages of the variety, it is worth noting, first of all:
- high productivity;
- universality of use;
- taste qualities;
- transportability;
- resistance to disease.
Given the original "greenhouse purpose", many consider it a disadvantage that in the open field the yield decreases. The disadvantages include the fact that Blagovest tomatoes need to be formed. And it is almost impossible to collect seeds from them for independent reproduction, since they are rare in hybrids.
