A piece of the sun in a jar - pumpkin juice, recipe at home
In winter, our body needs vitamins so much, but you can get them not only from fresh fruits and vegetables. Preparations made by hardworking housewives, especially juices, have no less useful substances. One of the most valuable is pumpkin juice; the recipe for this drink at home is generally simple and uncomplicated.
The most important thing is to select good, ripe and sweet fruits for harvesting. And then it all depends on your preferences, because the juice turns out to be very thick and a little sugary in taste. To make it really a drink, in most cases water is immediately added to the workpiece. But you can do the opposite by opening a jar of puree juice in winter and diluting it with water. And the combination of pumpkin with other vegetables, and even fruits and berries, will help to bring originality and a fresh touch to the taste. Surprisingly, the large orange fruit harmonizes well with many of them, but most of all with those that contain acid. It will accentuate the sugary pumpkin flavor and make the juice more pleasant.
Pumpkin juice is very healthy and low in calories. It normalizes metabolism, cleanses the body and improves the functioning of the stomach. It is also a source of many vitamins and minerals, especially carotene. The orange juicy pulp contains 5 times more of it than carrots.
Which pumpkin is better for juice
In addition, for delicious juices with a beautiful color, use varieties with sweet and juicy bright orange pulp, for example:
- pear-shaped butternut pumpkin;
- a flattened gray pumpkin in a light stripe Kherson;
- flat gray pumpkin Altair.
It is better to take small fruits weighing no more than 3 kg - they will definitely have time to fully ripen. Large pumpkins may turn out to be partially green inside.
Pumpkin juice - homemade natural drink recipe without additives
To make the juice, you will first need to peel and boil the pumpkin in the amount of 3 kg. Cut it into cubes, put it in a saucepan and pour 2 liters of water. Cook for 15 minutes, check with a knife - if it pierces easily, then it's ready.
Now proceed with further actions:
- Without draining the water, grind the pumpkin with a blender until smooth.
- Transfer the mixture back to the pot.
- Add 500 g sugar and 10 g citric acid.
- Let the juice boil, skimming off the foam.
- Pour into jars and roll up.
You can use citrus juice instead of citric acid. Squeeze it out of 3 oranges and half a lemon. The rest of the ingredients remain the same. Add citrus juice to chopped boiled pumpkin along with sugar and boil for 10 minutes.
