Eggshell fertilizer - which plants to use?
Many gardeners, gardeners and florists, when growing crops, prefer organic feeding. Such fertilizer literally lies underfoot, since organics in this case are products obtained as a result of the vital activity of birds and animals, as well as food waste from the human table. The latter also includes eggshells.
Eggshell Benefits
Eggshells contain many useful microelements (primarily calcium) necessary for the normal development of plants. They are widely used for feeding various crops, as they improve their general condition and have a positive effect on yield. In addition, when introduced into the soil, the shell deoxidizes it well and enriches it with minerals, and also makes it looser. It is also used to prevent certain diseases and repel pests.
Egg fertilizer has its advantages over purchased preparations, namely:
- it is 100% natural and does not contain chemicals;
- has a large amount of calcium;
- it is absolutely safe for plants and humans;
- when applying, it is impossible to exceed the dosage;
- does not require large financial costs, especially if there is a poultry house.
Making fertilizer from the shell
In general, it is not worth scattering the shell around the garden - this will only attract the birds, which will bite together with it all the plantings, and there is no benefit from this method. It will take a very long time for large pieces to completely decompose and release their substances to the soil.
First of all, you should first properly prepare and process the shell:
- Egg shells must be washed. So that during the drying process an unpleasant smell does not appear, remove the thin film inside.
- Put everything in a cardboard box and leave to dry.
- Grind the shell with your hands, a mortar or in a coffee grinder, depending on the further method of use.
In the case of washing the shell and removing the film, a certain amount of vitamins is also washed out, therefore, to preserve them, the shell can be immediately dried in the oven.
Fertilizer applications
The crushed shells are applied directly to the soil or an infusion is prepared from them. You can insist and whole shell.
Egg powder should be stored in a glass jar with a lid.
Eggshells are used as fertilizer for such plants:
- Most vegetable crops (tomato, pepper, cucumber, beet, etc.).
- Berry bushes (raspberries, currants, gooseberries, etc.).
- Fruit trees (apple, cherry, apricot, sweet cherry, quince, pear).
- Ornamental flowering plants (both indoor and outdoor).
Very useful information. And most importantly, everything is so compact and to the point! I am very glad that I found you. Now I will only use your advice! Thank!
The eggshell is insoluble in water. Having bought my site, I dug it out more than once. She lay there for years. Eternal fertilizer.
Thanks for the info.Sorry, but I didn't hear the last words, the last plant is not clearly named.
