What fertilizers should be applied when sowing sunflower, norms

Tell me, what fertilizers can be used when sowing sunflower? Our land is, in principle, not bad, but not very rich. I think that a good harvest cannot be seen without additional nutrition. What to deposit and how much?

The sunflower has a very strong root system that requires good nutrition. The correct choice of fertilizer when sowing sunflower plays one of the most important roles. At the initial stages, the plant has an increased need for nitrogen. Accordingly, nitrogen-containing preparations must be used before or during sowing.

Autumn fertilization for planting sunflower

Organic nitrogen in the form of manure in the spring is not used for sunflower. It is better to apply it either when growing a predecessor crop, or under fall plowing in the fall. For 1 hectare of soil, 20 tons of manure will be enough, and if it is poultry droppings, then 12 tons. Such soil fertilization will last up to 4 years, and the expected yield will increase by 0.3 t / ha.

For winter plowing, in addition to manure, phosphorus-potassium preparations are also introduced.

Fertilizers when sowing sunflower

Mineral nitrogen-containing fertilizers are applied during pre-sowing cultivation. The following preparations have proven themselves well when growing sunflower:

• nitroammophos;
• ammophos;
• nitrophos.

The application rate should not exceed 50-60 kg per 1 ha, which will increase the yield by 0.2 t / ha. But an excess of nitrogen will entail a decrease in disease resistance. Accordingly, the harvest will be much worse.

Presowing seed treatment with bacterial fertilizers

The use of biological products significantly increases the indices of sunflower development and its yield. Bacterization of seeds is especially relevant if the soil itself is not fertilized before sowing. Bacterial preparations for sunflower are usually used to choose from:

1. Polymyxobacterin (60 ml per 1 ha). It is characterized by an improvement in the phosphorus nutrition of sunflower. Norm: 12 l of the preparation for 1 ton of seeds. An additional fungicide is added to the working solution. Expected effect: an increase in yield from 10 to 20%, as well as an increase in the oil content in achenes by 2%.
2. Hetomik. Biological fungicide containing spores of an antagonist fungus (genus Hatom). In addition to the growth-stimulating effect, it protects the sunflower from many diseases. Norm: 2 kg of powder per 1 ton of seeds. Expected effect: increase in yield up to 0.35 tons per hectare.

The working solution of these preparations is sprayed on the seeds before sowing and dried. In order for the bacteria to adhere well, an adhesive (casein, gelatin or molasses) is added to the solution.
