We delve into the conditions of keeping nephrolepis
The shrub has unique decorative properties, and also conquers flower growers with its unpretentiousness. The conditions for keeping nephrolepis are the most common, but some nuances should be taken into account. Air humidity, temperature conditions and irrigation technology significantly affect the well-being of a native of tropical latitudes.
An amazing houseplant prefers only diffused light. In summer, it is installed on a stand in front of the window. However, in winter, when the heating is turned on, the flowerpot is removed to another place.
Keeping conditions of nephrolepis: humidification system
In the natural environment, they grow only in tropical forests and occupy the middle tier of the jungle. There is a high percentage of humidity, because a huge amount of liquid evaporates from a huge set of green leaves that have an overall area. When caring for a fern at home, a florist should create a similar environment. To do this, long fronds are regularly sprayed:
- on hot days: morning and evening;
- in the cool season - once a day;
- in a dry microclimate, which comes with the heating season, 2-3 procedures are performed per day.
Water the flowerpot only with a pallet, since the soil very quickly overgrows with young shoots. If moisture gets on them, they will begin to rot over time. As a result, the growing point suffers, and the plant disappears. Nevertheless, the earthen ball should never dry out. Therefore, the water supply in the stand is constantly replenished. Under such conditions, nephrolepis will be unimaginably lush and beautiful.
A word about substrate and lighting
As noted, maintaining moisture plays a key role in crop care. In addition to watering, it is also worth preparing a suitable soil substrate that will hold the life-giving water. However, it must not be allowed to turn into a swampy mixture. So, when planting, a good drainage layer is laid on the bottom of the pot. You can make up the soil mixture yourself from:
- low peat (it has an acidic reaction);
- washed sand;
- fertile soil.
Nevertheless, the root system does not develop well in black soil and other heavy soils. Some add perlite to the planting soil, but very little. For the seedling, they select not a shaded, but a well-lit corner in the room.
If bright sunlight falls directly on the foliage, the liquid will quickly evaporate, and burns will soon appear on them. In this regard, the fronds are advised to shade a little.
The conditions for keeping nephrolepis come down to choosing a suitable place in the house. Ferns are freedom-loving crops, so they do not tolerate confined spaces. After all, rapidly growing shoots are gradually bent or even injured.
