Frost-resistant and large-fruited grapes Rumba, variety description, photo
Pleasant aroma, crispy fleshy berries of a beautiful pink color and, most importantly, good frost resistance. For these and not only qualities, the Rumba grape became famous, a description of the variety, the photo of which may not be known to everyone, since the hybrid barely changed the first ten years. The variety is considered amateur, and its parents are Charrel and Red Rapture. They gave Rumba not only excellent taste, but also a stable character, thanks to which the variety is successfully grown even in the northern strip.

Due to their good frost resistance, grapes can be grown in temperate climates. Plants can withstand frosts down to minus 25 ° C without any problems. They also have immunity against most fungal diseases characteristic of this culture.
The Rumba variety ties both female and male flowers, so it does not need pollinators.
Taste characteristics
Rumba belongs to table varieties and represents a line of early varieties. The harvest ripens in 95 days and is ready for harvesting in August. The clusters are long, not very dense, weighing more than 1 kg. The berries are large, weighing about 10 g on average, oval in shape. The skin is firm, pink, sometimes with a purple tint.
The pulp is very juicy, fleshy and sweet, with a declared sugar content of 23%. The grapes have an original cherry flavor and a nutmeg smell. There are few seeds, a couple of pieces, but they are large.
Pros and cons of the variety
The Rumba grape has a lot of advantages, among them it is worth highlighting:
- early maturity and large-fruited;
- high and stable yield;
- great taste;
- versatility (although a table variety, its sweet berries can be used to make wines);
- resistance to low temperatures, diseases and berry cracking;
- good transportability (dense skin reliably protects the grapes from damage).
There are practically no flaws in the variety, except that its growth force makes the bush very thickened. Therefore, the grapes need regular pruning as well as fruiting adjustment. If you leave the whole ovary, then the berries are crushed.
