Simple recipes for baked rolls with your own hands
Baked rolls are a great option for a festive table or for dinner with a family. They can be prepared with any ingredients, add sauce to taste, and treat guests. However, lovers of Japanese cuisine should purchase the main components in a specialized store - it is through them that the finished dish acquires its characteristic taste and aroma.
Warm rolls with spicy sauce
- nori;
- rice for making rolls - it differs from the usual one and is sold in specialized stores;
- boiled shrimp;
- red fish (salmon or salmon);
- flying fish roe;
- crab meat;
- cucumber;
- soft cheese (philadelphia, bucco, or almette);
- for the sauce - mayonnaise, hot chili sauce and garlic.
For baked rolls at home, prepare the main dish and sauce separately, and then combine them and send them to the oven. The process is very simple, even a beginner can handle it:
- First, boil the rice for the rolls. It should be well cooked, but not boiled. Then lay out the nori sheet and place the rice on top of it, leaving some space on one edge.
- Then add all the other ingredients: red fish, crab meat, shrimp and cucumber. Make sure they are close to the edges of the nori, otherwise the last rolls will be empty.
- Moisten the remaining edge with water and gently wrap the roll, lifting it up with a rug. It should be wrapped very tightly and the nori should secure the seam securely.
- Cut the roll into portions and place on a baking dish. On the purchase sheets of nori there are marks along which it is cut to make the rolls even.
- Then you can start preparing the sauce for the baked rolls. In a separate container, put 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, a few chopped cloves of garlic, 1 tablespoon of soft cheese, 2 tablespoons of flying fish roe, a few drops of chili and soy sauce.
- It remains to put a small amount of sauce on each roll and send the form to the oven for 10 minutes. Serve warm and eat with chopsticks dipped in some soy sauce.
For wrapping rolls, you should purchase a special bamboo mat (makisu). It is reusable and is traditionally used in Japanese cuisine.
Gunkan rolls with crab sticks and spicy sauce
One of the easiest homemade baked roll recipes is made with crab sticks. Optionally, they can be replaced with crab meat. In addition to this component, you will need:
- nori and rice for sushi and rolls;
- soft cheese ("Philadelphia" or "Buko" varieties are suitable);
- ingredients for the sauce: mayonnaise, garlic, soy and chili sauces, flying fish roe.
The technique of making gunkan rolls is different from the usual one. For this dish, the ingredients are not laid out on the rice before wrapping the filling in nori. Each roll is prepared separately: first, a small amount of rice is wrapped in nori, and an assortment of other ingredients is spread on top. After a little practice, such baked rolls will turn out to be no less smooth and tasty:
- First, prepare the sauce for baking the rolls.In a separate container, place a couple of tablespoons of mayonnaise, two cloves of minced garlic, a few drops of sauces (soy and chili), and a spoonful of flying fish roe (tobiko). To melt at a high temperature, add a spoonful of soft cheese.
- Chop crab sticks or crab meat and mix evenly in the baking sauce. This mass will be the filling for the rolls.
- Boil the rice until it holds its shape well. Shape it into small portioned balls.
- Take a nori sheet and cut it into strips 3 cm wide. There are already marks on the purchase lists. Next, wrap each rice ball tightly in a strip of nori. Each roll should have a space for the filling.
- Place the rolls in a baking dish and place the sauce and crab stick filling on top of the rice. These layers should be in approximately equal proportions.
- It remains to put the gunkan rolls in the oven or microwave for 7-10 minutes. Serve hot with soy sauce, wasabi and ginger.
Ginger Is a separate dish, so do not place it on top of the roll. Simply dip the rim in soy sauce and eat separately, alternating with rolls or sushi.
Rolls in batter with crab sticks and vegetables
There is a simple recipe for making baked rolls in batter. To do this, you will need rice and nori, crab sticks and boiled shrimps, trout fillets, assorted vegetables (pickled cucumber, Korean carrots and bell pepper), as well as mayonnaise, soy sauce and soft cheese. For batter, wheat flour with an egg and bread crumbs are suitable.
- Boil rice until tender. Take a nori sheet and place the chilled rice on top of it, leaving some space near one of the edges.
- Then place the vegetables, cut into long thin slices, and the seafood. Form a large roll by helping yourself with a bamboo rug.
- In a separate container, mix flour with salt and a little water, add an egg. Beat the mixture with a whisk, fork or mixer.
- Dip the roll in the resulting mixture and roll in breadcrumbs. Preheat the skillet at the same time.
- Fry a long roll on each side for a few minutes, until golden brown. Then divide it into portions and serve hot. In addition, add sticks to each guest, add soy sauce, wasabi and ginger.
